Button Ring Tutorial
I found more yummy buttons at Joann’s Fabric. They are so summery, one of those I consider shots of happiness. You put them on your finger and you are instantly in a better mood. Fashion experts will tell you to buy less clothes and just accessorize what you have, accessories is everything! You do it with paper beads and you transform from cool to super cool 🙂
And the materials are: ring blank, flat button, small round paper beads, 26 gauge wire, glue gun and round nose pliers.
You can also put a glass bead in the center of the flower…..
These are the buttons that you can find at Joann’s.
They were very easy and simple to make and can certainly be made in different ways. The Orange Button in this ring already have a flower design on it.
This Blue Confetti Button Ring, has a glass pearl in the center.
Becky of Infarrantly Creative has a series of zipper jewelry tutorial on her crafty blog and one of them is zipper earrings with paper beads.
Idea # 5 for the Paper Bead Trade is the Button Rings. Reminder for the Paper Bead Trade participants: Start making those beads or if you already have made some mail them to me so I can start putting the kit together 🙂

A Button Ring
This is an impromptu post, I couldn’t wait, just have to share it with you. As I was organizing my beads preparing for the Paper Bead Trade,( by the way you can still email me or sign up, as long as it is on or before June 30th) I rediscovered my button collection. They are very inexpensive and comes in a bag, I think I got this in one of my trips to Michael’s, one of those things that “I just gotta have” 🙂
Flowers in my back yard is an inspiration.
This ring is very simple to make, it took me a whole 30 minutes to do it and if I have time I will do a video. I used really small paper beads. Tip: To make really small paper beads, cut triangles that measure 1/8 of an inch at the base and 8.5 inches long, using magazine or catalog pages. The result are tiny paper beads around 4-5 mm.
I used 24 gauge craft wire and put it through the button holes, strung the small round paper beads, twist the wire to form into a petal until you have 5 or 6 petals.
You finished it off by twisting the two wires together and curl it into a spiral to sit in the center of the ring.
You will then hot glue gun the button into a ring blank and voila!
I have a few people signed up for the Paper Bead Trade, for those of you who already have tons of paper beads 🙂 you can mail them to me so we don’t have to be rushing. Thank you for the nice emails, truly appreciated.
Paper Bead Ring
This ring is a very easy project but a nice way to showcase that one single paper bead that interests you. I found this one bead from a strand of paper beads, I like the stripe pattern of the bead. The one good thing about the paper bead is the large hole, perfect for hiding knots. I used .8mm elastic for this project and flower spacers for the band and bead caps for the paper bead.
What you do is cut a piece of elastic, use a bead stopper on one end and string according to this pattern: paper bead, bead cap, spacers (the number would depend on the size of your ring) and bead cap. You would then tie a square knot and put a dab of gs hypocement (glue) to make it secure. When it is dry, cut the excess elastic and pull the knot inside the bead.
