Paper to Paper Bead Idea #1

Posted on Oct 17, 2010 in Paper To Paper Bead Ideas | 14 comments

You would think that I have seen all that there is to see when in comes to paper beads.  I find myself constantly surprised to find how many different beads you can make out of paper!  How many kinds of paper are out there, thousands.  I would like to take on the challenge of giving life to ordinary paper.  Today, Paper to Paper Bead Idea # 1 is made out of gift wrapping paper.

I call these beads Sapphire Blue Beads because the color is very similar to the Swarovski tear drops that are sapphire blue.  You can make these into a bracelet or go for the bling and incorporate crystals.  I laid it down on a beading board, to see how it will look like.  To me, the beading board is great for planning your design, and measuring your necklace.

It is hard to tell they are paper beads, don’t you think?

Imagine World Peace

It is fun watching colorful magazine pages turn into beads that are vibrant and saturated in colors.  You don’t even have to sit there and agonize over which color would go well with each other, you put them together and somehow all the colors just blend and look like they belong……

The black rhodium plated eye pins used in connecting them, brought out the colors of the small round beads.

The bottle cap pendant makes this set casual yet feminine

Wings Of Paper For Charlotte

Posted on Oct 13, 2010 in Paper Bead Creations | Comments Off on Wings Of Paper For Charlotte

Frozen Charlotte’s are German vintage dolls that were dug up from a burned down German doll factory in late 1800’s.  You see them being sold at etsy, just type frozen charlottes and there’s quite a few of them that sells these.  If you noticed, the dolls have missing arms and legs and truly depicts the legend being told about the Frozen Charlottes:  A girl named Charlotte set out one New Year’s Eve night to go to a ball.  Her mother advised her to wear a wrap but she refused worried that her new dress might not be seen.  And so, she set off in a cold winter night on a sleigh with boyfriend Charles, who to his grief and astonishment found Charlotte frozen from the cold.  There you have the story.  I look at the doll and it’s angelic face and I thought that she definitely needed wings.  So here she is with wings fashioned out of small colorful round paper beads.

I took paper beads put it into a wire and fashioned it into wings.  Now, I am not that sad looking at the broken doll, I just made her into an angel 🙂

Wire Rope Crochet

Posted on Oct 12, 2010 in Paper Bead Creations | 5 comments

Bead rope crochet is usually done with seed beads and polyester thread.  I find this type of beading easier with wire and extra small round paper beads.  They are easier to manipulate and the wire gives it form.  I used 28 gauge black craft wire and size 3 crochet hook.

blog3

This is the type of bead crochet where you string all the beads you need first, approximately 48 inches for a 6 1/2-7 size wrist.

The ruby color tear drop swarovski gives it the sparkle it needs, I just love how this turned out.

I know, it is just paper beads but it somehow reminds me of exotic Thailand, it must be the ruby colored crystal and the black wire that gives it that mysterious look.

This can definitely take you from day to evening, I think this will look pretty as a necklace also, don’t you think?  Hmmm… paired with little black dress.

We have received some beads for the trade and I will be sharing that with you in upcoming posts, have we decided what you want to make yet?  I guess it is a toss between the memory wire and beads in orbit bracelet?
