Today, is A Picture Speaks A Thousand Words day. These are images of painted paper beads drying in my sisters back yard, to me, it’s such a beautiful sight!

I love the sunny yellows

The color of purple yams, a beloved Filipino dessert.

I’m sorry if I have not posted tutorials lately, Kayla and I are busy getting ready for the CHA Show. Hopefully, I will finish the video on painted beads.
You know how it is hard to make jewelry for men? Not only is it hard to come up with the “look”, it is not fun working with dark colors. Well, I saw these black round paper beads with muted magazine colors and it inspired me to make a gentleman’s bracelet. This was not an easy task but here it is:

I picked and chose the more black ones what was left from the strand of beads are lighter in colors. Of course there is the option of painting them black.

I use 1.5mm leather and just did a simple macrame weaving with a button closure, I have a tutorial on this using hemp cord.

My hubby agreed to model it for me 🙂

I think this would look really nice in painted beads.

I spent Christmas day away from my home. You know what that means? Away from my beads, paper beads, paper, glitter and paint, I started to experience shortness of breath, I asked my husband to drive me to Barnes and Noble quickly! I ended up spending 4 hours browsing through books, leafing through magazines, sipping ice tea……I was in heaven. I cannot just walk out of there without buying something, after all isn’t that the idea? I got this book “Origami For Children” by Mario and Roshin Ono, I wanted to learn origami for my grand daughter Lana. She loves anything paper, reminds me of someone 🙂

Lana turned 15 months old and she would rather play with envelopes, sticky notes and labels, so her new origami toys would just perfect for her to play with. Below is a ninja knife.

I made this box from the book but there are tons of video tutorials on youtube, just search for origami box. They are great for storing small things and beads.

I also made Mr. Turtle from a kit I got years ago.

Mr. Penguin I think would also be one of her favorite, this also came from a kit.

I will get a lot of giggles from Pacman The Munch, this is from the book.

And because, she is a girl she needs a ring 🙂

I couldn’t wait to see the look on her face when she gets all these goodies. Her mommy will have some quiet time for at least 15 minutes 🙂

The poinsettia prints in this scrap book paper inspired Kayla to create a necklace with poinsettia flower as the pendant. She and I have recently immersed ourselves in polymer clay to complement our paper beads. Did you know that the bright red petals are actually the leaves? The flowers are the yellow clusters in the center.

The polymer clay Poinsettia Pendant came out really nice, Kayla put to good use her hours from ceramic class:) Now, all we need is some coordinating gold crystals to go with out poinsettia paper beads.

The giant Christmas tree in front of our shop is a nice back drop from some picture taking.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

The red and green colors of these paper beads makes them perfect for Christmas jewelry. Kayla added some gold tone beads to complete the Holiday look. Today also I hosted a Christmas party for friends and colleagues and lots of yummy Filipino food, but it’s the dessert that takes the cake 🙂

Kayla and I donned on our Santa hats so we can properly greet you Happy Holidays! We hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends.

I know it’s hard to see but Kayla and I are both wearing paper bead earrings in this picture. Here’s a close up on the bracelet set.

The necklace and earrings set are on sale on my etsy for $5.00 for the set! Just a reminder to get ahead in your shopping for next year. This will be just as beautiful today and 5 years from now.
