A Gallery Of Painted Beads
Here it is! Paper beads all painted in beautiful colors from near and far away places. Ladies and gentlemen (drum roll), I would like to present to you painted paper beads cut from all types of paper, boxes, envelopes, postcards……and painted in vibrant colors! There are twelve participants for this swap, some of you made several using different mediums.
Manou’s beads are painted to look like “Matriochkas” or Russian Dolls. These pictures doesn’t really do justice they are more exquisite in person. The details on the tiny faces are just amazing!
She also made little mushrooms to go with the whimsical theme.
More Matriochkas
Little cat faces.
Blue and white polka dots.
I think Manou has mastered the bicone shaped beads. Love the lime green.
In this group, she has a couple of small saucer shaped beads that can be used as button closure.
Claire’s beads are vibrant red, she said she made them from paper with different prints on them that are still visible after painting them making each one different. You can see more of her paper beads at her blog, Papel Hilo.
From Lizbeth, olive shapes in what look like painted with water colors.
Elim’s beads are perfect bicone shapes, you can see a watch she made with pink paper beads and crystals at her website ngirlscrafts.
Jane made tube beads in different sizes which shimmers in what looks like frosted nail polish paint.
Linda’s beads are painted a nice lavender color. Linda has an etsy shop More To Adore and she has some beautiful paper beads jewelry, please check her out.
Denise of JewelryByDenise, has a nice collection in her etsy shop including paper beads jewelry. She also perfected the olive shaped paper beads, she painted them in pretty coral red.
Deb, painted her beads in pretty pastels.
Gisela, experimented on different kinds of medium. It is such a treat to see all the different designs she did on these beads.
The barrel shaped bead were painted with random colors, after painting them with a solid blue background, using small brush.
Cone shaped beads that looks like cocoons, were sponged with multiple colors.
I really love how these turned out, she also did this with multiple colors using small sponge.
The cobalt blue and green combination is also very pretty, Gisela painted the paper first before rolling them into beads.
These beads are so pretty with gold and brown combined. Gisela painted and then stamped the paper, you can see the leaf designs that she stamped on the paper.
Gisela came up with creative ideas on how to paint the beads, for these olive green(ish) barrel beads, she put the beads in a jar with small amounts of different color paints! How creative is that?
Belinda of cassiscraft came up with long skinny red beads that are perfect tube shapes. They would just be great mixed with crystals or glass beads. Belinda’s website is a hodgepodge of different crafts, so much inspiration….
Donna’s beads reminded her of a “Starry Night” in Southern Georgia. They do twinkle like stars, in what I would call midnight blue and deep purple.
Last but not least, are Kathy’s beads. I love the chunky beads that are made out of boxes or heavier paper material and painted in metallic colors.
It is so inspiring to see the different creative work that you all did. I have learned so much from this swap and I hope you did too. Kayla is in charged of putting them together as a kit, we will include some of our paper beads as filler beads. Until the next swap…….thank you!
Vintage Look – Paper To Paper Bead Idea#4
I thought the rhodium color bead caps and beads will go together with the poster board paper beads. It gives it a vintage, antiquey look to it. My inspiration for this design is an antique lamp in my living room – it is big and gaudy but I love the opalescent glass and the brass vines and flowers that surrounds it as you can see here. Black lace or beige lace would go with this set.
The earrings are almost 3 inches long and you don’t have even to wear other jewelry when you don this on.
The bracelet is just strung on jewelry grade elastic and the big holes of the paper bead hides the know really well, you can’t even tell.
I love dressing up and feeling glamorous on a shoe string, don’t you?
Any Paper To Paper Bead Idea anyone? I would love to hear from you and share your work with everyone.
Paper to Paper Bead Idea #3
I have a collection of paper of all kinds because I hate throwing anything out thinking I will be able to recycle them and give it new life. With this in mind, my Paper to Paper Bead Idea # 3 is freezer paper. You come home from the deli one day and you find that cheeses and meat is wrapped in freezer paper. It has such a nice texture to it, not too thick and not too thin. I thought they’re great for painted paper beads, you can use whatever left over nail polish you have which is what I did for this project.
I cut the triangle strips 1/2 inch wide at the base and 22 inches long, of course you can cut it longer or wider at the base for a different look. I then, applied nail polish in green.
Dip it in glitter
Voila! Pair of blingy earrings 🙂
I think they will look like pearls if you were to make it a little rounder and painted with frosted white nail polish.
Any ideas you want to share?
