I love leafing through catalogs that I get from the mail, getting ideas (why go to Milan?), and turning them into paper beads after. I love the Jjill clothing line, they are comfy and perfect for just lounging at home. This necklace and earrings set, caught my eye, and here’s our version of it in small round paper beads!

Several stands for small round paper beads went into making this necklace

This is the matching Jjill earrings

Chandelier Bead Earrings by Jjill
Wearable? Definitely!

The earrings are very simple and easy to do (it really is!), the paper beads are strung into a 24 gauge wire, make loops at the end and connect them into a chain, the chain into an earring finding, voila!

Another day of turning the ordinary to extraordinary!

….and a little bit of that, is how the Paper Bead Soup was made. I really didn’t have the time to make anything, and now that things are not as hectic, I made a few paper beads made out of black scrap booking paper. I tend to gravitate towards the colorful prints, so I am trying to make something out of plain black paper.

They look like little almost look like chocolates with swirls and dots f pinks. I painted it with nail art lacquer, the ones they used to put design on your nails. They are easy to apply and for some of you who are “artsy” you can probably design little flowers on the paper bead with the thin brush meant to draw little designs on the nails.

I randomly selected a few paper beads from the Paper Bead Soup, and Kayla will design something for us. When it’s done, we will have a raffle drawing for all those that participated.

This is one of the projects I have been working on. We shipped out first batch of the paper bead kits, Kayla patiently sorted them out and made sure everyone got paper beads from all the 18 participants. The rest of them will ship tomorrow. You know the feeling when the party has almost come to an end and you did not want to part yet with your new found friends? Well, let’s just go party at another friend’s place, house, blog? In the mean time, you will see projects that I have been working on, and this is one of them. I call it Fruit de Mer, because to me that’s what it is, even with the red paper beads nestled inside the shell.

A great way to wear your paper bead creations is to mix and match with your other jewelry. This has a bail big enough for gold omega wire to go through and it looks nice layered with gem stone necklace.

What is nice about this kind of shell, it is reversible, the back is just as pretty as the front of the shell.

This will also look pretty hanging on an organza ribbon

Another day of turning ordinary to extraordinary!

Kayla just finished her paper beads today, and we have also received Lynn’s. We are mailing today kits to those who sent the first batch of paper beads, Kayla and I had fun sorting them out. I love the thought that we are now connected in someway, when we wear in our jewelry paper beads made by each one of us. I took a picture before sorting them out, sort of a big bowl of “Paper Bead Soup.”

Paper Bead Soup
Lynn’s came today. Your beads made it to the Paper Bead Soup Lynn!

Kayla’s other hobby is scrap booking, and her paper beads were made from left over paper.

The rest of the kits will be shipped on Tuesday.
I would love to see what you are going to be making with your kit; be it bracelet, necklace, earrings, a brooch? I am hoping that everybody would participate in our “Show and Tell” portion of the trade. So here’s what I’m going to do: the first 10 that submits an image (email it to me), will get a unique strand of paper beads made by the Philippine Women.
I want to thank everybody that participated in the trade, I hope you had fun as much as we did. Anyone, who would like to host the next Paper Bead Trade? Let me know and we will announce it here, too.

The last batch of paper beads from Paper Bead Trade participants came yesterday. I have about 18 now, not counting myself, Kayla and my sister, Joann. If I’m missing anyone it will just probably from two participants, and if I’m not mistaken I will get those in a couple of days. Anyway, I will start to send out the kits tomorrow and the rest by Monday, sorry for little delay.
Karina, who is a regular at my shop did quite a few, of all shapes and colors, she even included some buttons and charms, how sweet is that?
