When you see me looking at a poster, most likely I am admiring the colors and texture of the paper.  There is always something going on in down town Glendora and we get fliers and posters of all sorts and this is one of them.  It’s so funny how Kayla and I gets excited about posters, junk mail and fliers.  Well, here’s why…….

Kayla got to work cutting them up in different size strips.

Paper to Paper Bead Idea #3

I have a collection of paper of all kinds because I hate throwing anything out thinking I will be able to recycle them and give it new life.  With this in mind, my Paper to Paper Bead Idea # 3 is freezer paper.  You come home from the deli one day and you find that cheeses and meat is wrapped in freezer paper.  It has such a nice texture to it, not too thick and not too thin.  I thought they’re great for painted paper beads, you can use whatever left over nail polish you have which is what I did for this project.

I cut the triangle strips 1/2 inch wide at the base and 22 inches long, of course you can cut it longer or wider at the base for a different look.  I then, applied nail polish in green.

Dip it in glitter

Voila!  Pair of blingy earrings 🙂

I think they will look like pearls if you were to make it a little rounder and painted with frosted white nail polish.

Paper to Paper Bead Idea #2

Young and old alike we love getting gifts in a little pink bag that has become quite familiar to most of us, Victoria Secret pink paper bag.  So, here’s another paper to paper bead idea that coincides Breast Cancer Awareness month, in the form of a bracelet that I simply call Pink.

blog1

These pink bags come in small and big ones, you just need to open it and you can cut your triangle as long as you want them to be depending on how big you want your beads to be.  The pink ice crystals and pink ribbon charm completes the whole bracelet.

Gift bags are great for paper bead making because they are glossy and beautiful colors.  It is funny sometimes when I get more excited about the gift bag and the tissue picking out from it than the actual gift, and think paper beads!

Paper to Paper Bead Idea #1

You would think that I have seen all that there is to see when in comes to paper beads.  I find myself constantly surprised to find how many different beads you can make out of paper!  How many kinds of paper are out there, thousands.  I would like to take on the challenge of giving life to ordinary paper.  Today, Paper to Paper Bead Idea # 1 is made out of gift wrapping paper.

blog1

I call these beads Sapphire Blue Beads because the color is very similar to the Swarovski tear drops that are sapphire blue.  You can make these into a bracelet or go for the bling and incorporate crystals.  I laid it down on a beading board, to see how it will look like.  To me, the beading board is great for planning your design, and measuring your necklace.

It is hard to tell they are paper beads, don’t you think?

blog5

The shiny gift wrapping paper in gold would be just perfect for the season, I just found some from my stash last year.

blog6

How many Paper to Paper Bead Idea do you think can I come up with? The first 15 readers to leave me a comment will be entered into a raffle drawing for a bead board that I am giving away to one lucky girl .
