Ice Resin On Paper Beads-day 35
One of the interesting product I saw at the CHA is Ice Resin. I love the fact that you can use it on paper and it sort of laminates the paper. You can see projects on their website, which is wholesale only but I’m sure Michael’s or other craft stores carry them. It takes three days to cure, so for the impatient crafters out there, it’s something for you to think about. They were giving out samples at their booth and after the show I got to play with it. Take a look:

You were suppose to use it to encase objects in a bezel cup, and you can see a doming effect. I used it instead to hold the paper bead tubes onto a brooch finding and at the same time the crystals in the center.

I tried it on paper and it is drying as we speak. I think it will make an interesting paper bead, don’t you think? We’ll see….

Any Which Way Necklace – day 34
This is another example of what you can do with painted round beads. I took our d.i.y bead and painted them with nail polish in bronze color. You know what they say about laziness being the mother of invention? That is what happened here, I got tired painting the beads and decided to mix them with other beads.

I used black seed beads and very inexpensive acrylic beads, all light and the colors complementing each other.

Wear it any which way, paper beads on the side or down like that or even coil it around your wrist as a bracelet.

Mixed Media Bracelet – day 33
Mixed media beads in natural fibers and wood are great accompaniment with paper beads. The bicone shaped paper beads are hand painted in swirls of orange, green, red and yellow. You can use toothpick or really fine tipped brush is used to paint the stripes on the beads. It came out tropical don’t you think?

I wrapped the wood bead with crocheted chains of DMC cotton thread, and also crocheted together little rounds to go in between as spacers. If you don’t crochet don’t despair, just wrapped cord around a wood bead and use other disc or spacers instead.

The big beads are made by stacking up several pages of triangle strips, I will do a tutorial about this as soon as I get my stuff organized after the show.

Ocean Blue Drops – day 32
Paper beads that are cut from the same page will have a similar pattern and colors and makes designing a piece easier. Blue acrylic beads perfectly matched the ocean blue color of paper bead tubes. I’ve had these blue drops for awhile now and don’t know quite what to do with them. And then…..ocean blue paper beads makes the perfect back drop, don’t you think?

Matching earrings.

I think it came out really nice don’t you think? The beads are water resistant and can be worn on the beach sun bathing in a blue or white bathing suit 🙂 Dreaming of summer already!

I have some of these beads left over from this project and I would like to give them away, so you can make one just like this. Here’s how: leave me a comment on anything that you have been crafting lately, doesn’t have to be paper beads. We will announce the winner on Saturday.
