A hammered silver blank serves as a canvass for brightly colored paper beads wire wrapped into the silver. I added a charm with the word “love” in time for Valentine’s Day.
This is such a simple piece but eye catching on a leather cord.
I love the randomness of the beads on the silver blank.
Read MoreI wanted to wear something at the CHA that can easily be recognized as paper beads. The smaller beads can sometimes be mistaken as shell or wood beads. Kayla designed this piece for me, three strands of tubular paper beads braided into a long necklace.
I just love the magazine colors of these beads!
It looks substantial but they’re light, that is the beauty with paper beads. Who says it can’t be elegant?
Read MoreThe ocean deep blue color of the nail polish used to paint these beads is called tidal wave, looks like the color of “angry” waves. I used nail polish a lot in painting my beads because of the richness in colors aside from the fact that I love the names. Red, is not just red, it can be mustang red or strawberry red 🙂
I think it is a good idea to paint our beads in just one color for the bead swap this way, you can make something that is similar to this.
We thought it is the perfect accompaniment to the spotted glass beads we found at the Pasadena Show. I just love this bead, it has flecks of gold, blue and pink just unusual.
And now, the winner for the blue drops giveaway! I used number picker and it picked out number 3 among 9 participants and that happens to be Manou! All the way from France 🙂
Please contact me for your address thank you for playing.
Read MoreI wore these oval hoops at the show and received lots of compliments! It is one of those costume jewelry that you find in my stash marked “to be rehabilitated”. I thought the olive shaped paper beads made more fun and definitely added a splash of color into the other wise boring metal hoop.
The paper beads barely added weight to the earrings, don’t you just hate wearing heavy earrings? This is such a fun piece, you cannot help but feel beautiful when you have this on 🙂
As you can see, the paper beads are all different in pattern and color, no two are alike!
One of the interesting product I saw at the CHA is Ice Resin. I love the fact that you can use it on paper and it sort of laminates the paper. You can see projects on their website, which is wholesale only but I’m sure Michael’s or other craft stores carry them. It takes three days to cure, so for the impatient crafters out there, it’s something for you to think about. They were giving out samples at their booth and after the show I got to play with it. Take a look:
You were suppose to use it to encase objects in a bezel cup, and you can see a doming effect. I used it instead to hold the paper bead tubes onto a brooch finding and at the same time the crystals in the center.
I tried it on paper and it is drying as we speak. I think it will make an interesting paper bead, don’t you think? We’ll see….
