I was invited to a friend’s birthday and we had so much fun making the paper bead jewelry to match our outfit. Using paper beads in jewelry makes the finished piece more interesting, unique and different. I’m on sort of a mission to prove a point-paper beads jewelry can be elegant and fashionable. I made chandelier earrings out of olive shaped paper beads.

The materials for this project are: 1 1/2 inch 22 gauge head pins, 4mm bicone crystals, 5mm spacers and olive shaped paper beads.
Kayla made her earrings out of red olive shaped paper beads to match her dress and the necklace was just strung on elastic, easy breezy.

We are always looking for ways on how to interpret different beading techniques using paper beads. Kayla C, came up with this beautiful bracelet, inspired by a pendant using crystals, and you can find the pattern here.
She added a crystal rivoli in the center part of the pendant and finished it with glass pearls and crystals. It look so much like Victorian.

Here’s her other version of it with paper beads

She used small round paper beads with stripe pattern.

I finally figured out how to wire wrapped a pearl pendant in the shape of a cross. It was quite a bit of a challenge because the holes ran diagonally instead of top to bottom. I took apart a necklace I purchased earlier at a thrift shop that had these bead caps made our of shell. I wire wrapped each bead to each other and the bead caps are just perfect for the paper bead holes. The paper beads I used for this necklace are small round ones and have a nice apple green color.

Here’s a video on how to do a basic wire loop with bead caps.

I have these earrings in a different kind of green, I think goes very well with it.

The basic wire loop is not that complicated and you will be an expert in a few hours of practice.

We had fun today, taking photos of our paper beads for our upcoming catalog and I would like to share this with you. We have been wanting to come up with paper bead dress and Kayla came up with the idea, it will look like this.

You would need lots of paper beads

It will not be complete without a paper bead purse

I got hooked on making hemp jewelry with paper beads. I love how the look of it makes you think of nature and it is such an effortless way of looking “cool”, something that is unique to you. Hemp is such an inexpensive material and can be bought in spools in an array of different colors. So here is another version of the square knot, with 3/4 inch tube paper beads.

This is my “paper bead soup”

I picked out from the pile the medium sized paper bead tubes for my necklace.

I did not want to add anything for the clasp so I just made a loop and the remaining hemp I divided it into two just to tie around the loop.

I guess you can wear it as a bracelet too.
