You open fashion magazines and what you see are bold and chunky jewelry. Kayla G, fell in love with the white agate and dyed Socho jade. Looking at this necklace, it would still be pretty with just the two strands of white agate and socho jade. And then again, if you want to take ordinary to extraordinary, add the Paper Beads and boom! You have transformed the necklace to something special.

In Kayla’s own words:
I made sure each strand consisted of a different shape and size to clearly show the uniqueness and beauty of each stone. The White Agate is a nugget shape, the Socho Jade is a coin shape and the Paper Beads are olive shaped.
After I was finished stranding each strand on soft flex, I twisted the strands together and connected them to an eye pin and added a bead cap.

The necklace is about 22″ in length

Endless possibilities with paper beads……

After weighing all our options, we decided on pairing these beautiful gold paper beads with jet black swarovski crystals. I think this will look good with little back dress or plain white shirt with jeans, we finished it off with black pleather cord. As I mentioned in earlier post the beads were made out of gold label box and were tightly rolled with metal paper bead roller.

The pleather cord give is that casual look and you can easily just wear gold button earrings to go with it.

We could just have made it with the paper beads strung all around in a 16 inch necklace, but I thought this gives it more a not too formal look

Can you tell they’re paper beads?

We have enough beads left over for a pair of earrings and bracelet, or maybe another necklace.
Read MoreI am a big fan of 99 Cents Store, I love going through their jewelry and taking them apart and use the findings for paper beads! Kayla saw this bracelet with blue plastic beads. You can wear it as it is but again, incorporating paper beads with your jewelry will take it from ordinary to extraordinary, don’t you think? It becomes special and a conversation piece. Kayla painstakingly took it apart and put one inch tube paper beads instead. Take a look!
From this (before)

Here it is with paper beads, it looks Roman don’t you think?

We used the magnetic clasp and white seed beads as accent, the paper beads Kayla chose matches the copper of the finding.

The little loops seems to be begging for us to hang a beads, we’ll see……..we bought two of these bracelets.

We will finish the Gold Paper Beads and Make it into a necklace and earring set on our next post. Thank you for visiting.
Read MoreI received a strand of these big chunky gold paper beads that my sister made out of Johnny Walker box. Like me, when she looks at paper or boxes she is imagining how they will look like when they are made into beads. They look heavy but you know they’re very light. I imagine, that even if you make them with the metal paper bead roller, you would need stronger hands and really tacky glue to hold them together. I had fun today, trying to decide which bead would go with them. I am hoping you can help me?

Gold paper bead from a JW Gold Label box
I put it side by side with gold finished bead which is expensive at $6.00 a piece and it looks just as nice.

I am thinking of making it into a necklace and here are my choices of beads that can go with it.
Jet black swarovskis?

Fire polished in luminescent pink?

Gold on gold with swarovski gold aurum 2AB?

Greenish fresh water pearls?

Swarovski pearls in copper?

Gold foil Murano Glass beads?

Firepolished Amethyst aurum crystal

Or lava beads?

Decisions, decisions……….would appreciate your input.
Read MoreThe strips of paper that Filipino Women painstakingly rolled into beautiful paper beads come in beautiful vibrant colors and I am always pleasantly surprised when I open my packages from them. Isn’t it neat that you don’t know what you get each time? Kind of reminds me of Tom Hanks movie only with paper beads ” Life is like a strand of paper beads, you don’t know what you’re going to get ” 🙂 Look how pretty these are:

I picked out these purple ones and put knots in between the beads, just like knotting pearls, using a thicker silk chord.

This short necklace, meant to be worn high up on the neck and can be doubled up to be worn as a bracelet.

If you have question on “how-to” leave me a comment here, I read all your comments. Thank you for stopping by.

I received a shipment of paper beads from Philippines yesterday 250 lbs! I slept late last night and was not able to post yesterday. I have to inspect each strand one by one! I had fun really looking at each one of them. Probably the next few days I will be sharing with you the unique colors that I will find.
