We had a post on how to make Hana-Ami inspired paper bead flowers. We are busy as bees making paper beaded flip flops now that summer is just around the corner. You can find flip flops of different kinds and colors and some of them have really yummy colors like this one. It matched perfectly with these fuschia flip flops. We used the olive shaped fuschia paper beads for the flowers and just glued it into the band of the flip flop.

Here’s the before and after.

I looove how it turned out!

I had to paint my toes to match

Another day of taking the ordinary to extraordinary with paper beads!
Read MoreHello everyone! I am taking over Janice’s blog for today to share with you what I did with leftover paper strips. We are all taking a break after we have filled orders from the CHA Show last winter. BTW, I am the sister Joann who is based here in beautiful Philippines. So, here is what I came up with when I tried new shapes, Janice game me the task of coming up with new shapes 🙂
First, You take about 100 strips of triangles, size of strip: 6/16″ – 1/4″ the length is 16 3/4″. You glue each strip of paper at the base to hold them together, maybe use a glue stick to do this. This is how we cut the magazine pages, first we glue the edges together.

Second Step: You hold in your hand the 100 strips of paper that’s glued at the base and start rolling.

Step 3: You glue each strip of paper as you go along to hold it in place, making sure that each piece is in line with the rest.

Step 4: At this point, you have glued all 100 strips of paper together, now you have 50-65 strips of paper that needs to be glued to the first 100 strips you rolled. Take two strips of paper and glue it to the previous strips that is visible on the side of the big circle you have made at this point. Basically, what you are doing is overlap two strips of triangle to the edge of the big circle every two strips of the 100 strips.

This is how the 150-165 strips of paper will look like after they have been glued together, as big as a small saucer. You can use this as a trivet or as a coaster! Just an idea.

If you push the middle part of the circle, then it takes a cone shape form or a hat.

Here they are looking like hats or cones

We had fun with it, trying it on paper dolls and figurines!

I don’t know what to do with these yet (I guess I leave that up to my sister). I think it will be a good paper bead curtain accent, Victorian cones and fill it with paper flowers…….what do you think? If I have not explained everything correctly, just leave me a comment here and I will answer any questions.
Read MoreThe group of Philippine women is a constant source of inspiration for me. They come up with new shapes, new ways of turning paper into beautiful paper beads. Any new thing they come up with you get to preview here, before they are sold in the stores or online. I received these big round paper beads yesterday and I immediately fell in love. My sister Joann and her husband Jun choose and cut the paper and distribute them to trained “paper beaders”. The fruits of their labor will soon be available at major craft stores and I am happy for them and hope for great sales. These chunky paper bead bracelets will draw attention to your wrists and will become instant conversation piece!

My sister calls this “wordy” paper beads. Jun cuts the paper in such a way that certain words are still visible.

I made a simple bracelet with copper and antique gold spacers.

I think they came out really nice

Another day of taking the ordinary to extraordinary!

Summer is around the corner and it is time again for pretty pedicures and flip flops. This is such a fun project, easy and no beading experience required. I used the olive shaped paper beads for this project, some seed beads and 28 gauge craft wire.

Part 2

Another day of turning ordinary to extraordinary!

This is another post on how to make use of the tubular shape paper beads. Now that I have discovered that I can use paper beads to decorate my home that is what I have been doing. I find that the smaller paper beads are good for making jewelry and the bigger tube paper beads is great for curtains, mosaics and purses. Possibilities are endless……

I have this waste basket in my bathroom

Ever since I have rediscovered my glue gun, no trash can is safe.

I particularly like this shape, it’s like putting a puzzle together.

Tip: I found it easier to stop at this point and do the bottom part, this way it is even and clean at the bottom

I just love how this came out, what do you think?

Even the inside looks pretty, somehow the paper beads are showing through.

Another day of taking ordinary to extraordinary!

Stay tuned for more home decorating ideas.
Next project: Beaded Flip Flops!
