My other passion aside from paper beads is crochet, and I am always looking for ways to incorporate crochet into my paper bead creations or vice versa. I love the lacy look of wire crochet and when I saw the black wire in 28 gauge I thought they would look like black lace when crocheted. I made the Black Lace With Paper Beads cuff with bright colored paper beads and the Scrunched Up Cuff with magazine color extra small round paper beads.

This almost remind me of a hair scrunchie because it can expand to fit over your hand and you can scrunch it up to hug your wrist. No clasp necessary which I like.

The Black Lace Cuff is more of an open design and looks so pretty on your wrist. This does not have a clasp because it can easily be adjusted to your wrist.

Paper Beads definitely takes this bracelets from ordinary to extraordinary!

The tiny version of the big paper bead tubes resembles a lot of things. They can look like shells, wood beads, rice beads, but I like to call them olives. They are not only great for jewelry making but also very easy to make. To make the olive shaped paper beads you need to cut the paper 1/2 inch by the base and probably 8-12 inch in length depending on the kind of paper you are using. These Bunch Of Olives Earrings are made the same way as the Paper Beads Cluster Set, the only difference is that here, the olive shaped beads are used instead of the small round beads.

Here’s is the video tutorial on the clustered bead balls, these are made the same way.
Each individual olive bead is strung into a head pin with a simple rosary loop at the end

I made 18 olive dangles for each earring, a total of 36 olives or one strand.

I think it will also be pretty if you string more than 18 olive dangles for a different look.

Possibilities are endless…….

The diamond shaped paper beads are my favorite shape to make into stretchy bracelets. I like mixing them with gem stones, wood beads and crystals. To make them – cut a long strip of triangle 1/2 inch at the base. I am not good at doing a step by step instruction so here’s a video tutorial.

I used the metal roller in this tutorial but the bamboo roller will work as well.
Here’s a couple of bracelets I made with the diamond shaped paper beads

The coral beads and the wooden carved beads are a perfect accompaniment to the diamond shaped paper beads

Congratulations to Cathy, please email me your address and your Turtle Graduated Bracelet will be on its way.

Read MoreMy sister Joann who lives in the Philippines and does nothing all day but make paper beads (I am not kidding!), found these hand made paper at a local market. They are made out of layers of tissue paper and encased between these layers are leaves, rose petals and apparently you can just incorporate anything that you want to make your paper special. She is on a mission right now making her own paper and I would love to try it too one of these days. I would like to share with you the paper beads she made out of these hand made paper.

As you can see here up close, are leaves that are placed in between the layers

When you cut this out and make them into paper beads, it makes that bead more special.

The Philippines is also famous for abacca paper, which is from a plant, they make fabric and paper out of it, just like these paper it has texture and substance.

These beads are 2 inches wide and it looks really pretty as earrings.

You really don’t need anything else, it is pretty just as it is, don’t you think?

I am amazed at the variety of paper that is out there, just like fabric they all come in different colors and textures….

Another extraordinary day!

I will be drawing out a name for the Graduated Beads with the Turtle Charm on Friday 🙂
