Metal Paper Bead Roller by Nem

Posted on Nov 5, 2009 in Events and Experiences | 7 comments

His full name is Nemesio, shortened by family and friends to Jun (for Junior) or Nem for Nemesio, his first name.  He came up with coated metal roller with bamboo handles to make paper bead making a lot easier.  We are still making the all bamboo roller (original), but if you want to make the small rounder shaped paper beads, Nem would suggest to use the metal roller with the bamboo handles.

The strip of triangle shaped paper should be longer and only about 1/4 inch wide at the base.  I would like to demonstrate how to measure and cut the paper in next post.

My Joan tied pink ribbons around it to show her “pink” side.  Leave me a comment or email me if you know someone whose life is touched by breast cancer and I would gladly send them one.

  3. Thank you so much for careing about the cancer awareness. I am currently finishing up my chemo treatments…Your bamboo roller is really great, thank you for this great craft. I am currently making pink bracelets for most of the ladys who are in chemo. This is the only take with me craft that I can enjoy for four hours at a time and my new found friends really enjoy watching and getting just a little joy to take home with them. I have never used a metal roller but it sounds like it just might make the job a little easier. Keep up the great work I really do enjoy reading the comments and believe it or not I think it helps pass the time. May God bles you and your staff.

    • Hi Pamela,

Thank you for sharing your story. I’m happy you found a new hobby. I wish you the best and your friends. Janice

  4. Wow! this one is great! For your information, I am a breast cancer patient. I was diagnosed with breast cancer Stage IIA and has undergone a right breast mastectomy last September 2008 at Manila Doctors Hospital. After my operation, I have been searching for a good hobby so I won’t be worried about my condition. At present, I am doing well now and constant follow-up check up is being done and I am under medication. I am very proud to know you, you’re helping a lot of people. GOD BLESS YOU AND MORE POWER!

  5. Hi! Your work is beautiful! I want a roller for a dear friend who is suffering from breast cancer and I motivated her to make paper beads. I spent many hours with her and she told me that , I am her therapist. Wrolled the beads by hand because in the island we can’t get those tools. I was searching in the web and I found your site. If you can send us this tool we will appreciate it forever.
Thanks and Blessings. Maritza Laboy, Puerto Rico.

    • Hi Maritza, I’m glad you and your friend has discovered this fun hobby and sad to hear that she has breast cancer. You know you can make paper beads with anything like a skewer or tooth pick, the metal roller just makes it a lot easier because of the bamboo handle and the metal makes the hole smaller and uniform. I will send you a couple although I’m not sure how much is shipping to Puerto Rico. I hope your friend will be better soon. Janice
