Lyrical Bells -day 42

If you look at these cones closely you can see words, and you can make these so that it tells a story (a short one).  To have them hanging on a chain, reminds me a monks tassels on their belt, this is what inspired me to make this necklace.

I love to see the swirls of words twirled to make it into a cone shape.  You know how to make these right?  I know I have a tutorial somewhere, it is actually very simple.  You start it by rolling a triangle strip and when you have a finished bead, push the center using a pen or pencil and you have a cone shape!

The wood beads and the brown fresh water pearls added to its mystic.

  1. Hi Janice,
I wanted to ask you about dollar
store bags. I recently made pretty
paper beads from a very glossy
bag. I used the modge and then the
    vibrance as per your instructions.
The bracelet after a month or so,
started to wear and unravel. I noticed
that there was some sort of plastic
coating over the paper. Do you have
any advice on what paper or bags to stay
away from? I love what you do and
appreciate your advice. I found your site
8 months ago and have been very greatful
    ever since, I am hooked.
    Thank you
    Patti

    • Hi Patti,

I find that the modge podge does not glue very well. Try using very tacky glue or diamond glaze to glue your paper beads together. It is true there are glossy paper that does not hold very well with glue. Hope this helps you. Janice

  2. Hi Janice
    These are very pretty.
Will you please tell me how the bells
are connected from the inside? There
was a pair of earrings that I
had seen on this blog. They had
    little beads hanging from the
inside. I wanted to try and make
them, but could not figure out how
    to put it all together.
    Thank you
    Patti

    • Hi Patti,

You will put a seed bead on a head pin or any kind of bead that is bigger than the hole so it does not go through the hole of your paper bead; take a 1 1/2 inch head pin, put a 3mm bead or a 6/0 seed bead, put it through your paper bead cone and do a simple wire wrap at the top. I hope this helps. Janice

  3. I really like the mystical spirit of this necklace with hidden words as a prayer and with brightly colored cones who blend perfectly with the wood! happiness blend ..
