Ethnic Look w/ Paper Beads

Posted on Dec 9, 2009 in Paper Bead Creations | 1 comment

I’ve had this mother of pearl pendant in the form of a lizard for quite sometime and din’t quite know what to do with it.  I was shopping for beads the other day and came across with what look like wood beads, in fact I was told they were wood beads but upon closer examination, I found that they are irregular in shape and has smaller holes just like that of seed beads.  They are very light, weighs almost like nothing.  I just loved them.  After staring at them for quite some time (you know how it is when you are trying to decide on a design), I thought they would be a perfect companion to the diamond shaped paper beads and the lizard mother of pearl pendant.  So, here is the finished necklace.

I made a matching necklace, using the same diamond shaped paper beads.

I think this necklace would look just as cool on a man’s neck, my husband said he would wear it.

Reuse Egg Cartons for Paper Beads

Posted on Apr 5, 2009 in How-To's / Tutorials | 2 comments

An egg carton is one of those perfect containers for small things like beads (specially seed beads), paper clips etc.  Just to make it more fun and to give color to a desk or work space you can paint it with leftover craft paint.  I made one, and put a handle to it to hold my paper beads which are really small.  It is the perfect container when you want to separate colors and size.  The handle is fashioned from a leftover craft wire, you just punch a hole or just stick it into the carton and wrap it around one or two times, and so with the other side, it make it easy to carry around.
