I challenged myself one day to try and find anything in my kitchen, and incorporate it into a jewelry piece, in the spirit of “found objects” turned into wearable art. Here’s what I found:
A rusty measuring spoon which I didn’t know has magnet on the bottom. I filled it with the ice resin (I think diamond glaze would work too).
You could wear this as a pendant too. It would make a great gift to someone who loves to cook or someone who constantly forgets where they put their keys. Hmmm…..that sound like most everyone I know 🙂
Read MoreWith all the different kinds of paper that are out there, paper bead making has possibilities that are just endless. Do you collect paper like I do? Here is one that I find at a local art shop, black poster paper that has crater like texture to it.
Here is the close up of it:
I cut the whole length of the paper with a base of one inch and here is the result: lava bead!
I thought the painted red saucer beads would be a good mix.
I was going for big and bold and Asian inspired.
I incorporated onyx bead, some coral bead and gold bali beads to complete that Asian look.
Just the way I like it: big and bold 🙂
Read MoreThe paper bead cones are one of my favorites but it is sometimes hard to come up with designs using them. Sometimes, you have to think outside the box. Aside from wire wrapping them, what else you can do with them? First, I wire wrapped them together and glued them using E-6000 to a brooch finding.
In the center of the bloom is a flat carnelian bead, also attached with wire.
I have a tutorial on how to make the cone shaped paper beads please check it out under tutorials. A fresh take on flower petals 🙂
Read MoreWhen I get a shipment of beads from Philippines, I would sort through them and admire the colors and get to pick out the beads that goes to my collection of paper beads. The muted color of greyish, taupy color of these beads caught my attention amidst the brightly color ones.
The gray is accented with splash of orange and black.
All from the pages of old magazines!
A heart does not have to be red all the time, right? I love the predominantly purple(ish) color of this glass heart pendant. To make it even more special, I added painted bicone shaped paper beads to match to complement the colors.
What do you do when you have a focal bead and you don’t have the necessary components to go with it? Paint the beads!
It is something that you can wear everyday not just on Valentine’s Day. Happy Valentine’s!
