Paper Bead Plums – day 71

Posted on Mar 11, 2011 in 365 Paper Bead Creations | 2 comments

I just love the purple(ish) color of the beads in this Paper Plums Necklace.  Can you believe they are made out of recycled printing paper?  They are quite expensive to make not your usual paper beads.  They measure about 22 x 20 mm and it is a perfect bicone shape.

Fresh water pearls in plum colors seem like the perfect choice to accent these beads.

Coiled Paper Buttons – day 70

Posted on Mar 10, 2011 in Paper Bead Creations | 5 comments

Each of the tightly coiled paper buttons is a work of master paper bead makers from the Philippines.   Swirls of colors from the magazine pages create what looks like tree rings only in color.  I made them into buttons by attaching it into coiled wire and making a loop on the other side of the button just like a button.

This is a substantial piece and it is not for the faint of heart!

It reminds me of something that Cleopatra would wear, I wonder if someone thought of making paper beads out of papyrus back then?

In The Company Of Cloisonne – day 69

The red painted round beads and cloisonne beads with red flowers just look so chic combine together in a bracelet.  It is something that you can wear with anything just to give a pop of color on an out fit.

Red always look good with gold and has that Asian feel to it.

This is one bracelet that can be worn throughout the year.

Lovely In Leather – day 68

Tiny, tiny paper beads are strung on leather and held together with a ribbon finding.  The bigger hole of the paper beads make it perfect to accommodate the thickness of the leather.

You can glue the beads to the leather if you want it to be stationary or free flowing, like what is done here.

Just another way of show casing your paper beads!
