AVATAR Inspired Necklace
Kayla G. still has AVATAR on her mind after watching the movie. So, here is her version of Neyteri’s necklace with round paper beads.

…… I decided I would put a little something together… Neytiri wears this eccentric, eye catching necklace through out the movie. It is weaved with feathers and full of vibrant colors. I just fell in love with it.
I made my own version of Neytiri’s necklace with paper beads.
I chose to do a 6 strand braid with Greek leather, to give it the weaved look. I attached vibrant colored feathers and wire wrapped paper beads. I also added some strings to give it that organic look look.

I hope you enjoy my Avatar inspired necklace as much as I enjoyed making it (and watching the movie) 🙂

Now that spring time is just around the corner, we have flowers on our mind. This is just a very simple design but will make you feel instantly pretty when you put it on. Kayla C. patiently wire wrapped each paper bead bud in the brass chain and was very happy with the result. For wire wrapping technique please refer to our tutorials. She used glass flower for each tip of the olive shaped paper bead and just connected each one to the brass chain.

A pair of earrings to match would also be nice.

Mandala-Inspired Paper Bead Jewelry
The paper bead tubes, are simple and easy to make but can be made into pretty jewelry. I’ve been playing with it trying to come up with something using the paper bead tubes and I love how these turned out. I have some leftover of the tubes shaped 1 inch long by 1/4 inch wide. The inspiration is a mandala design I took from a book “Coloring Mandalas” by Susanne Fincher, it is kind of a coloring book for grown-ups. I wove the paper beads into flower shape and made pendant and bracelet. I love the bracelet, you get that bold look but at the same time very feminine. The pendant is unfinished because I am not sure what to do for the neck part. I just wire wrapped the tubes with a 26 gauge wire, I love using the wire because they are forgiving and easily manipulated.

A Day At The Beach
Did you know March is considered craft month? I decided to take a break from jewelry making, paper beading and went to the beach! You think that stopped me from getting my mind off crafting right? I could not resist the beautiful rocks I found at the beach and made something with it. Like they say, a picture speaks a thousand words so here it is….
The weather was just right that day, I prefer to be out when there is no sun so this is just perfect for me. You can tell I was a happy camper.

It was too windy and dark clouds looming ahead…

This would be a nice one for rock painting, don’t you think?

You can tell I’m happy to see all these rocks….

I know the water looked cold but it was actually nice that day. Good for walking barefoot.

Rocks look so much different when wet like that, but somehow would take on a different color when they’re dry.

Look what I found, white quartz. This would be nice for the bath math I’m planning on doing. I did not plan on going in the water that day so I have my paper bead necklace on and earrings (although not visible).

And this, would be nice as weight to hold those journal pages down while drying.

As you can see, the beach was deserted and quiet which I like, it’s so hard to be picking rocks when it is crowded like summer time.

I think I have enough here

Now, I have to get my rocks ready for my bath mat. First wash them thoroughly and pick out the ones that you like. This is just to add to my collection from last year.

I used a leftover piece of carpet or you can buy one by the yard at your local hardware store. For glue, I used gorilla glue, which can also be found at your local hardware store. I am not sure but I think it will also work if you just hot glue gun this to the mat but it’s worth a try.

Here it is, my very own bath mat made with rocks I picked out from the beach.

I just had to try it. It felt really good on your feet.

I would like to try little rocks for a trivet, what do you think? Thank you for stopping by.
