Round Paper Beads

I get asked a lot about how to make the paper bead more round – the best way to do this is: Make long strips of triangle 1/2 inch wide at the base of the triangle.  How do you make a long strip of paper?  You can do this by joining the magazine pages together by gluing them at the edges or use a really long paper like wrapping paper.  I take my measurements by using a yard stick, if you don’t have one, just use a long piece of straight edge wood.  Keep in mind that the result would vary depending on the texture or how heavy the paper you are using.  I would suggest to just experiment on the paper you have available.  There is no wrong or right way to do this, I love the different shapes that come out every time, AND I like to be surprised!

Here’s an example of round paper beads that I just strung on elastic and mixed them with Chinese crystals, they are not that expensive and goes well with the paper beads.

I then, rolled the long strip of paper using the metal paper bead roller.  It came out round, don’t you think?  I was so happy to see my roses in bloom again, hello Spring!

These are examples of necklace and bracelet sets we have made in the past.  They are just strung on elastic and mixed with crystals.  These are great projects for a beading party or “paper beading party” as I would call it  – all you need is elastic and paper beads.

Paper Bead Bracelet Watch

Posted on Mar 29, 2010 in Paper Bead Creations | 2 comments

I have a little instruction book on how to make beaded watches, and that gave me the idea of making paper beads watch bracelet.  Kayla C chose the colors to go with this watch face and I must say, it came out pretty nice.  You can buy these little watch faces at your local craft stores or here.  These are fun watches but functional as well and the batteries can be easily replaced.  I say all the time that the paper beads can take a simple jewelry from ordinary to extraordinary, like this watch for example.

Shown below are the materials: beading wire, crimp beads, olive shape paper beads, watch face, 3 strand finding and 3 strand clasp.

Posted on Mar 26, 2010 in Paper Bead Creations | 1 comment

The paper bead flower pattern is so easy to make and you can put them on anything; earrings, hair clip, rings, cell phone charms, scrap book page, etc…I get asked by some of you where to get the findings for them, so I came up with this kit, to go in my etsy shop.

Here’s what’s in this kit; olive shaped paper beads (2 colors), 2 ring findings, 2 set of earring findings (post and back), E-600 glue,  and 24 gauge wire in silver and gold.

Revamped With Paper Beads Vase

Posted on Mar 25, 2010 in Paper Bead Creations | 2 comments

When I was going through my collections of old magazine for a collage project, I came across Martha Stewart article on how to make carnations with muffin cup liners and you can find the instructions here.  I normally take pictures outside, so I set up a makeshift work area in the family room where it is easy for me to just go outside.  I thought that the paper flowers will liven up my work area.  I used one of those vases that comes when order flowers but it looked like it needed something.  So, step two is dressing up the otherwise boring vase by decoupaging it with tissue paper and painting it with water color and acrylic paint.  If you have been here a few times you know that I will paper bead almost anything.
