A Scalloped Paper Bead Necklace
The inspiration for this necklace can be found here. From time to time I get Garnet Hill’s catalog, I love their stuff. They call this necklace, Chan Luu Beaded Rope Necklace. If I look like the model wearing it I would love to wear this, instead I thought I’d make it with paper beads, light and colorful and certainly wearable as modeled by Kayla. Kayla made our own Scalloped Paper Bead Necklace with olive shaped paper beads and small round paper beads.

We made it by stringing the paper beads with softflex or any kind of stringing material you may have, and connecting it to the chain with crimps.

The design is pretty simple, and the scallops could be adjusted to how you like it to lay on your neck.

Very nice with just a simple tee shirt to show off that nice tan 🙂

Another day of turning ordinary to extraordinary!

We are on the planning stage of a paper bead exchange/swap, if you have any ideas suggestions please just email me, email button is on the right hand side 🙂 A few of you already have some really neat ideas.

While I was at the Craft and Hobby Association Supershow few months ago at the Anaheim Convention Center, I came across Suzanne McNeill, she is a certified zentangle teacher and she is the author of Zentangle Basics. For those of us who has not tried drawing or is scared to try, this is the perfect baby steps we need to take. I’m glad I stopped by their booth.
In simple words: It’s turning doodles into art designs. The tools you need: paper, pencil and fine tip marker.
These are some of the amazing work found at the zentangle booth.

I was looking at this and I thought; this could make a cool paper bead, cut up into strips of triangles.

This is just one example of a zentangle on canvas as a collage, isn’t that pretty neat?

This is my favorite, I bought a blank mask made out of paper mache with this in mind.

Kayla got inspired and did her own zentangle spelling out her name.

It came out really nice don’t you think?

In my next post, I’m going to try making paper beads out zentangled page 🙂 I’m actually excited to do this next!
Read MoreA Dollar Bead
Today, my step-son Alec is graduating from 8th grade, I wanted to give him something thoughtful and fun for a teenager. In my free time (when I’m not making paper beads and videos about paper beads :), I am on youtube looking at craft ideas and demos. Last night I stumbled upon Craftside’s How To Make Altered Paper Jewelry video, and I thought I had to share this with you. This is a cool way of packaging your paper bead necklace or bracelet for gift giving. In my case, I made a paper bead out of a twenty dollar bill. Jenn Mason author of Altered Paper Jewelry is going to show us how…….

here is the video, I had fun watching it last night, enjoy.
Instead of making the plastic tubing necklace (which I think is very cool), I thought it would be a nice way to give money as gift to someone instead of just stuffing it in a boring envelope. As you know by now, I make paper beads out of anything.

I wish I had the double sided card stock, I just used a water color paper instead and tore out a page of an old dictionary with the word success.

On the blank page of the flap I wrote: “This is actually a necklace which you can wear around your neck, in case of emergency please follow these steps: 1) Take the necklace off your neck 2) Get a hold of scissors or any sharp edge object 3) Cut the string 4) Slide the silver ring off the dollar bead 5) Unfold the twenty dollar bill and enjoy 🙂

Earrings for Every Day
I don’t feel “put together” when I am not wearing a pair of earrings. Do you feel the same way? Like, you’re missing something. I love wearing paper beads earrings because they are so lightweight and colorful. Now that the weather is getting warmer I thought how nice it is to just put one of these Every Day Earrings on and you instantly feel that somehow you made a difference in someone’s life……..

The earrings are very simple to make, just the very basic technique of connecting them with a wire loop. The beads I used for all the earrings are the extra small olive shape paper beads and small round paper beads.

This is just one olive shaped paper bead, simple yet beautiful!

This would look pretty with summer dresses…

Perfect with white shirt and blue jeans

A little bit dressier
