I Heart Paper Beads – day 15

Posted on Jan 15, 2011 in 365 Paper Bead Creations | 2 comments

Small turquoise colored paper beads are connected with rosary loops to have that delicate feminine look.  A brass heart charm completes the look!

We used one inch eye pins and 6mm paper bead rounds.  I do believe I have a tutorial on how to make rosary loops.

Color Of Jade And Jasper-day 14

Posted on Jan 14, 2011 in 365 Paper Bead Creations | 2 comments

I always go for big and bold jewelry even before I have discovered paper beads.  I love mixing them with real stones because that even makes it more special.  It took me awhile to find the right stone to go with this big bicone paper beads that has the color of jade, soft green and the darker green that forms a band in the center.  I have always admired the caramel color of the jasper stones and the smoothness of it.  I opted for a simpler style.

Little spacers in between would also have been nice.

It is something you can wear with jeans or with a blazer to work.  I love how you can dress it up or dress it down.

Oval Hoop Earrings

Posted on Jan 13, 2011 in 365 Paper Bead Creations | 5 comments

Earrings is something of a must have or must wear for me and I’m sure almost all women are.  We can be seen without make up but not without earrings.  When you have everything at hand; ear wires, some paper beads, and findings you are good to go, you can make a new pair in 15 minutes or less.   I made an oval hoop earrings using the round hoop earring finding and small paper beads.  The materials are; hoop earring finding, ear wire, small round paper beads, daisy spacers and the tool you need is a round nose pliers.

First you thread on the hoop your bead and daisy spacers with your desire number of beads.

blog1

Next, using your round nose pliers bend the tip upward so that it goes into the hole of the finding easily.

blog2

Push it so that the round shape takes the form of oval shape, tip should be around 3/4 of an inch sticking out from the hole.

blog3

Take your round nose pliers and bend the tip towards you forming a loop.

blog5

Almost finish earring should look like this:

blog6

To finish, open up the loop on the earring finding and slide the finish hoop.

I like the fact that the beads are free to move around.  I think it will also look good if you add more beads.

Snow Painted Beads-day 12

Posted on Jan 12, 2011 in 365 Paper Bead Creations | 4 comments

If you’re like me you get your inspiration from your surroundings, what you see in magazines or even television and the internet of course has tons of ideas.  Today’s project was inspired by snow capped mountains that greet me each morning as I make my coffee.  I love snow as long as you only see it from a distance like this photo.  I edited it to pick out what color should the back ground be and here is what it look like:

blog1

I painted an already made round paper beads with cobalt blue and as best as I could drew like a scalloped or wave design in white paint to make it look like snow.  I know, I did poorly on this one, I wanted to show you anyway so you get the idea of WHAT NOT TO DO! 🙂

blog2

I then strung it on elastic with small round chevron beads or glass beads and made matching earrings.

blog3

I love the serene view of snow capped mountains and appreciates the fact that I don’t have to experience blizzards and freezing temperatures.
