Candied Red Delicious-day 40

Posted on Feb 9, 2011 in 365 Paper Bead Creations | 7 comments

You paint big round beads in red acrylic paint, that look like red delicious and you have a bright happy beads that you can use any way you want.  I found this bracelet that just makes me smile and I think would make a great teacher’s gift.

I wanted to make it into a necklace but does not have enough beads,  so I painted big round beads with red, applied Vibrance over it and this is how they came out.

When you are trying to come up with a design and play around with it, it always helps to have a bead board, you can also determine the length of the necklace this way.

I added some flat discs as fillers, if you have buttons instead, you can use that too.

And now you have, a fun, happy necklace!

Pretty As A Picture -day 39

A hammered silver blank serves as a canvass for brightly colored paper beads wire wrapped into the silver.  I added a charm with the word “love” in time for Valentine’s Day.

This is such a simple piece but eye catching on a leather cord.

I love the randomness of the beads on the silver blank.

Braided Tubes-day 38

Posted on Feb 7, 2011 in 365 Paper Bead Creations | 4 comments

I wanted to wear something at the CHA that can easily be recognized as paper beads.  The smaller beads can sometimes be mistaken as shell or wood beads.  Kayla designed this piece for me, three strands of tubular paper beads braided into a long necklace.

I just love the magazine colors of these beads!

It looks substantial but they’re light, that is the beauty with paper beads.  Who says it can’t be elegant?

The Color Of Tidal Wave -day37

Posted on Feb 6, 2011 in 365 Paper Bead Creations | 3 comments

The ocean deep blue color of the nail polish used to paint these beads is called tidal wave, looks like the color of “angry” waves. I used nail polish a lot in painting my beads because of the richness in colors aside from the fact that I love the names. Red, is not just red, it can be mustang red or strawberry red 🙂

I think it is a good idea to paint our beads in just one color for the bead swap this way, you can make something that is similar to this.

We thought it is the perfect accompaniment to the spotted glass beads we found at the Pasadena Show.  I just love this bead, it has flecks of gold, blue and pink just unusual.

And now, the winner for the blue drops giveaway!  I used number picker and it picked out number 3 among 9 participants and that happens to be Manou!  All the way from France 🙂
