Fabric Paper beads-Day 22

Posted on Jan 22, 2011 in Paper Bead Creations | 9 comments

Fabric paper are paper fused to fabric and comes out with the same texture  as paper.  You can write on them, cut them out into shapes, sew them or make them into paper beads!  Can you imagine the different designs and colors?  Practically endless.

I chose springy colors to accent the leaf pendant.

In between are these beads that look like crystals with different colors beneath the glass (one of our finds at the show).

I really love how this turned out 🙂

  1. Hi Janice
Is the iron on fusible web
put on the fabric to make it stiff
    for rolling?
Also do you follow the same
    procedures using the Vibrance?
    Thank you
    Patti

    • Hi Patti,

Yes, the fusible web will make the fabric stiff. I prefer not to put glaze on the fabric beads but it’s entirely up to you. Keep creating……Janice

  2. I made fabric beads out of leftover muslin I had from a project. The fabric was not 100% cotton, so it did have some body. I wet the fabric strips and then used a sponge to apply acrylic paint to the wet fabric. It gave it a tie-dye look. After they were dry I cut them as I would paper and rolled them. Some of the threads frayed, but I left them as I liked the bohemian look. I don’t know if it was the fabric or the paint applied, but they rolled easily. I’m going to try the fusible web method, though, with some printed fabric I have that is a bit drapey.

Thanks for the idea, Janice Mae.

  3. it’s an idea to dig ! another interesting perspective of work…

  5. I love this idea. I love how this necklace turned out.

  6. Thanks! I will try it.

  7. I love the way it turned out too. Very lovely and springlike. I tried fabric beads a couple of times, but found them too wimpy and soft. But fused to paper would be a different story. What do you use to fuse it together?

    • Hi Gisela,

You can use any type of fusible webbing, I know there are several kinds at Joann’s fabric they usually come with instructions. I’m glad you like it.
