Two In One Medallion – day 197

Two In One Medallion – day 197

An easy, elegant way to frame a cabochon or in this case the large saucer shaped beads is wire crochet.  The wire just conforms to the shape of the bead nicely, easy to manipulate to capture the cab or the bead.  The Crocheted Medallion is even more beautiful when accented with the crocheted wire.

The words [...]

Beaded Kumihimo – day 196

Beaded Kumihimo – day 196

My last visit to jtv, I got the chance of meeting Anne Dilker, the Kamikaze of Kumhimo as she is aptly described by Kim the energetic host of jewel school. If you know me, I try to incorporate paper beads into everything.  I had fun making this Purple Pendant, but then I love anything in [...]

Golden Lantern Earrings – day 99

Golden Lantern Earrings – day 99

I was watching Tangled the other day with Lana and these pair of earrings pretty much remind me of Rapunzel’s floating lanterns.  I crocheted 28 gauge wire threaded with tiny round paper beads.

These will light up your face as it floats on your ears

I love tangled effect of the crocheted wire.

Magazine Color Rounds

Magazine Color Rounds

I am always amazed at the Philippine women who patiently rolled these little round beads.  I think I have more fun with the little beads because you can make them into intricate designs.  You can crochet with them, spiral stitch or wire wrap them into flowers and twigs.  I made these cuff bracelets awhile back [...]

Wire Rope Crochet

Wire Rope Crochet

Bead rope crochet is usually done with seed beads and polyester thread.  I find this type of beading easier with wire and extra small round paper beads.  They are easier to manipulate and the wire gives it form.  I used 28 gauge black craft wire and size 3 crochet hook.

This is the type of bead [...]

Crocheted Cuff

Crocheted Cuff

My other passion aside from paper beads is crochet, and I am always looking for ways to incorporate crochet into my paper bead creations or vice versa.  I love the lacy look of wire crochet and when I saw the black wire in 28 gauge I thought they would look like black lace when crocheted.  [...]

Accessories to Paper Beads

Accessories to Paper Beads

I was just thinking about it the other day that I did not miss wearing business clothes, suits and high heels.  I am grateful that I don’t have to do that anymore, once a month, maybe.  I work from home most of the time, go to the shop, run errands…….and always dress casual but always [...]
