Christmas Paper Beads

Posted on Dec 24, 2010 in Events and Experiences | 6 comments

The red and green colors of these paper beads makes them perfect for Christmas jewelry.  Kayla added some gold tone beads to complete the Holiday look.  Today  also I hosted a Christmas party for friends and colleagues and lots of yummy Filipino food, but it’s the dessert that takes the cake 🙂

Kayla and I donned on our Santa hats so we can properly greet you Happy Holidays!  We hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends.

I know it’s hard to see but Kayla and I are both wearing paper bead earrings in this picture.  Here’s a close up on the bracelet set.

The necklace and earrings set are on sale on my etsy for $5.00 for the set!  Just a reminder to get ahead in your shopping for next year.  This will be just as beautiful today and 5 years from now.

Paper Bead Idea #7

Posted on Nov 5, 2010 in Paper To Paper Bead Ideas | 5 comments

The paper beads from the rice bag came out really nice.  I was not quite sure because of the plastic coating on the backside, I thought it will be difficult to glue  together.  I used super tacky glue and the result was nicely shaped beads that I know can withstand wear and tear.

Looking at the cut strips like that, I couldn’t tell what the color of the bead is going to be, it is always nice to be pleasantly surprised 🙂

Isn’t that a good match with little Japanese girl?

I replaced the boring chain with silk cord and hand knotted the paper bead dangles.

More Trade Beads

………..and last but not least, beads from Sher, Jennifer and Ashley.  I am so pleased with all the beads, they came out so beautifully!  It is amazing how everyone got so creative experimenting different shapes and paper.  Even if there is no bead soup this time I would like you to see everybody’s beads.

Sher’s beads I think is from Japanese rice paper and scrap booking paper.  I specially like the long tubular ones, they almost look like Moroccan beads.

Jennifer sent us a few big chunky beads that are so unique.  According to her they mostly come from cartons/boxes: Philly Cream Cheese, Arm and Hammer, the purple and green beads from dog and cat food, the teal color is from a friend’s Newport cigarette carton and a few Annie’s food boxes like Mac and Cheese.

All these idea sharing to  always challenge our creative side is great don’t you think?  I cannot wait to try making tube beads and big and chunky beads

Paper Beads For Japanese Girl

Posted on Nov 2, 2010 in Paper Bead Creations | 1 comment

I just fell in love with this little Japanese Girl Pendant my daughter picked up for me from Forever 21.  I know they have cute stuff, I was not quite sure they have jewelry that will appeal to me.  She said it reminded her of me ( I must have looked like this at one point in my life 🙂    It is I think painted on ceramic and hangs on a silver color chain.

I named the little Japanese Girl Bochi, my pet name for my baby grand daughter Lana (I hope it does not translate to anything bad)!  I love this little necklace but it looks like it needs something.  The chain looks so bare and boring begging to be decorated.  Since I’m adding a new category to this blog Ordinary To Extraordinary, little Bochi will be the first project to go in that category.  Here are my two choices:  Double sided patterned paper (my Idea # 8)

And, Rice bag! (Idea # 7).  I was so excited when I found this bag sitting on the shelf of my pantry.  I did not remember buying it.  Organic brown rice?  It turned out that my daughter Lyra has gone organic on me 🙂  I don’t mind as long as they come in pretty bags like this.

So, I will get busy today cutting them up and rolling them into beads and then we will see which one will be a match for Little Bochi necklace.
