Cleo’s Paper Bead Bracelet

Posted on May 10, 2010 in Paper Bead Creations | 1 comment

To me, this looks like what a modern Cleopatra will have on her wrist, a bracelet made up of recycled magazines.  I have a penchant for taking inexpensive jewelry apart and replacing them with paper beads.  I love the idea of turning ordinary to extraordinary.  I call this Cleo’s Bracelet because the little triangle sections looks like little pyramids.  We replace the wood beads in the original bracelet with little round paper beads, Kayla did a good job of matching the colors.

The bracelet with the wood beads in the middle had a metal finding that can hold six strands.

The round paper beads we used has such a nice sky blue color with swirls of tan…..

Mandala-Inspired Paper Bead Jewelry

Posted on Mar 11, 2010 in Paper Bead Creations | 1 comment

The paper bead tubes, are simple and easy to make but can be made into pretty jewelry.  I’ve been playing with it trying to come up with something using the paper bead tubes and I love how these turned out.  I have some leftover of the tubes shaped 1 inch long by 1/4 inch wide.  The inspiration is a mandala design I took from a book “Coloring Mandalas” by Susanne Fincher, it is kind of a coloring book for grown-ups.  I wove the paper beads into  flower shape and made pendant and bracelet.  I love the bracelet, you get that bold look but at the same time very feminine.  The pendant is unfinished because I am not sure what to do for the neck part.  I just wire wrapped the tubes with a 26 gauge wire, I love using the wire because they are forgiving and easily manipulated.
