Pasta Paper Bead Jewelry

This is a follow up on a previous article on how to make paper beads out of pasta.  It is fun, inexpensive and a lot of possibilities.  Paper now comes in all prints and texture, if you do not want to use magazine paper, scrapbook supply stores has a whole array of beautiful prints of paper to choose from.  This necklace I made out of origami paper in different hues of blue, this actually came in a pack of eight pages of 1/4 of 8 x 11 paper.  You can find this also at a craft store like Michael’s.

I use bead caps big enough to cover the holes top and bottom of the pasta paper bead, you can use ribbons shaped into flowers or big spacers.  The charms I also purchased at a scrapbooking supply store.

Here it is! Cost of project, approximately $3.00 and all hand made by you! Enjoy.

Story Bracelet in Paper Beads

Posted on Apr 15, 2009 in Events and Experiences | 4 comments

April 22nd is Earth Day and will be celebrated nationwide. It is amazing to see the things we have achieved over the years in terms of making efforts to be more earth friendly.

In honor of this day, I made this whimsical bracelet, which is made out of paper beads. In one of my trips to the old book store we have in town I came across Aesop’s Fables and I thought it would be fun to incorporate the stories with the paper beads. I photo copied the pages and then cut out the words and the animal faces to fit the photo charms and set them with Diamond Glaze (buy Diamond Glaze). I like that it does not only tell a story but teaches a lesson. If you would like the whole story as it was written I will be happy to email them to you. Anyway, here is the story bracelet of The Fox and the Grapes from Aesop’s Fables.

I have been experimenting on different types of top coats for the paper beads to make it glossy and take on a hard shape and glass like appearance. I found that Diamond Glaze which is mainly use for setting pictures into photo charms is a good medium to coat your paper beads. It is a water based dimensional glue and dries quickly. We have a video on how to apply it to your beads.
