Bead rope crochet is usually done with seed beads and polyester thread. I find this type of beading easier with wire and extra small round paper beads. They are easier to manipulate and the wire gives it form. I used 28 gauge black craft wire and size 3 crochet hook.

This is the type of bead crochet where you string all the beads you need first, approximately 48 inches for a 6 1/2-7 size wrist.

The ruby color tear drop swarovski gives it the sparkle it needs, I just love how this turned out.

I know, it is just paper beads but it somehow reminds me of exotic Thailand, it must be the ruby colored crystal and the black wire that gives it that mysterious look.

This can definitely take you from day to evening, I think this will look pretty as a necklace also, don’t you think? Hmmm… paired with little black dress.

We have received some beads for the trade and I will be sharing that with you in upcoming posts, have we decided what you want to make yet? I guess it is a toss between the memory wire and beads in orbit bracelet?

If you are new at beading or jewelry making and is looking for a project that is EASY, enjoyable and the result REWARDING! Then, you should try this very simple stitch-the Spiral Stitch. I made one before, using seed beads and crystals and remember the many compliments I got. This time, I made this Spiral Necklace with extra small paper beads. I love the fact that I am wearing something recycled from magazines and each individually hand rolled by Philippine women. Not that it matters who are making it, just the fact that someone took the time to do it.

Even though this is a fairly simple project, the little details like; what to do when you run out of thread and how to attached the clasp and finish the necklace, takes time, and can only be explained best in a full length video. Here’s the preview anyway…

The kit will include all the materials needed: needle, fireline thread, clasp and many, many, many extra small paper beads

It is similar to the bead rope crochet, although, it is more flexible but has the bead encrusted effect.

Here it is on my neck!

It looks good on every one, don’t you think?

Another day of taking the ordinary to extraordinary!

I have been trying to find the right display form for my finished jewelry and paper bead jewelry but there’s not many out there, they too small or too short and everything looks the same. I happen to stumble upon a site that teaches you how to make your own dress form out of duct tape ! I did not want to make the whole dress form and gray duct tape is not what I have in mind so I improvised and made my own with white masking tape.

First, you need a dress form, mine is in red all the more reason to make another one.

I cut out a pair of stockings and use the top part to put on the dress form (you are doing this so the masking tape does not stick to the form), this would make it easy to cut out the layers of masking tape from the dress form. It is like paper mache idea.

I used a roll of cream colored masking tape and just tear and wrap around the part with the stockings. When it was all covered and stiff, I then cut it out from the back and pealed it off from the dress form. I taped the back together after.

I dressed it up with an old lacy top that I have and adjusted and cinched it up at the back by sewing it to make it fit into the dress form (bust). Now I have my own dress form I can display my nice jewelry with.

Here’s my Golden Pearl Knotted Necklace.

This is another one of my beaded creations; carnelian bead rope crochet.

Now, I am inspired to make more stuff to be displayed in my new jewelry display form. I had fun making this green bead rope crochet with seed beads and matching Murano glass pendant.

I have experimented using different kind of beads with bead rope crochet. For those of you who may not be familiar with bead crochet, it is simply crocheting beads in the round by using slip stitch. I have taught this form of crochet using 6o seed beads, but one day I thought I would try and use the 5mm paper beads which I received that day from my sister, and it was easy, light and works up really fast. If I am going to be demonstrating on how to crochet with beads, the small paper beads will be a good beginner project.

I used the 5mm round paper beads, you will need about 216 pieces approximate. If you decide to make the small round beads the metal roller with bamboo handle will be perfect for this.

When you feel you are up to a more advanced project, you can use other kind of beads even gem stones, take note that gem stones usually have small holes and you need to use thinner thread which could make it more challenging. Here’s an example of bead rope crochet using carnelian. When we are at the Pasadena Bead and Design Show, the booth next to us sells gem stones. I picked up 6 strands of carnelian stones which I thought would look nice done in bead rope crochet.

I think it looks very pretty with murano glass that I was keeping for something like this.
