Blueberry Choker – day 252
The beads in this necklace reminds me of blueberries, it has swirls of black, white and blue. This is another bead rope crochet project, it seems like my creativity lead me to bead rope crochet it must be because I have been seeing it on catalogs and shopping channels.
Here’s a video just to give you an idea.
Spring has sprung in sunny California, this necklace is definitely jean-friendly. I can imagine wearing it with white shirt, sun dress……

What do I love about paper beads? It is not just any bead, it is made out of something that at one point means something. Old magazines, catalogs, books music sheet…….the new Hot Pink Bangle is made out of Avon catalogs.
Have you tried bead rope crochet using seed beads? I must admit for a new bee is quite challenging! Well, here is my version using 6mm of the hot pink avon beads.
Layer it on!
Wire Rope Crochet
Bead rope crochet is usually done with seed beads and polyester thread. I find this type of beading easier with wire and extra small round paper beads. They are easier to manipulate and the wire gives it form. I used 28 gauge black craft wire and size 3 crochet hook.
This is the type of bead crochet where you string all the beads you need first, approximately 48 inches for a 6 1/2-7 size wrist.
The ruby color tear drop swarovski gives it the sparkle it needs, I just love how this turned out.
I know, it is just paper beads but it somehow reminds me of exotic Thailand, it must be the ruby colored crystal and the black wire that gives it that mysterious look.
This can definitely take you from day to evening, I think this will look pretty as a necklace also, don’t you think? Hmmm… paired with little black dress.
We have received some beads for the trade and I will be sharing that with you in upcoming posts, have we decided what you want to make yet? I guess it is a toss between the memory wire and beads in orbit bracelet?

If you are new at beading or jewelry making and is looking for a project that is EASY, enjoyable and the result REWARDING! Then, you should try this very simple stitch-the Spiral Stitch. I made one before, using seed beads and crystals and remember the many compliments I got. This time, I made this Spiral Necklace with extra small paper beads. I love the fact that I am wearing something recycled from magazines and each individually hand rolled by Philippine women. Not that it matters who are making it, just the fact that someone took the time to do it.
Even though this is a fairly simple project, the little details like; what to do when you run out of thread and how to attached the clasp and finish the necklace, takes time, and can only be explained best in a full length video. Here’s the preview anyway…
The kit will include all the materials needed: needle, fireline thread, clasp and many, many, many extra small paper beads 🙂
It is similar to the bead rope crochet, although, it is more flexible but has the bead encrusted effect.
Here it is on my neck!
It looks good on every one, don’t you think?
Another day of taking the ordinary to extraordinary!
