Gisela is one paper bead fan who perfected the art of making paper beads. I just love and admire her work, she knows which paper to use and how to get the desired color from the magazine pages or whatever kind of paper she is using to the finished bead. You will be inspired by what you see here:)

I love the earth tone color of these beads.

These are barrel type beads with large holes perfect for leather cords.

I love the print on this long tubes, they are like little paintings, don’t you think?

Manou’s Matryoshkas

I would like to share with you, Manou’s paper bead Matryoshkas. I first saw these when we had the painted paper bead swap. Manou painstakingly painted each one of them and they are just super cute, don’t you think?

I think she first made cone beads with a wide base and painted each one to look like Matryoshka doll. Manou visits me regularly so you can ask her questions here about these cute paper bead creations.

Double Bicone Earrings – day 175

There is beauty in simplicity, and this is what I absolutely love about this earrings! What a way to display the swirls of magazine color. The double bicone bead is made from stacking several strips of paper, depending on how big you want your bead to be.

It is very encouraging to see other paper bead buffs come up with really creative ideas in making jewelry with paper beads. Jane’s been busy making paper beads jewelry and each one is beautiful and inspiring. Her “Melody” set is for her sister Melody, made with music sheet. Do you collect vintage music sheet? I love how she put bead caps and painted the tips.

I love the almost winter look to this one, and the fact that the bead itself is a connector! Good job Jane!

I have been making a lot of this ring lately, too. It displays the bead itself really well.

This set is elegant, can be worn with the little black dress!

Elim, just like the rest of us got hooked on making paper beads, and she makes some real nice ones. She also blogs about her other interests like polymer clay and fun jewelry, you can see some of her stuff including a watch with a band made out of paper beads, here.

Totally Unexpected Tuesdays

I pick today Tuesday, to get out of the norm and do a post that is unrelated to paper beads. It could be other crafts; sewing, origami, mixed media, crochet, etc…..and if anyone would like to share their work what ever it maybe, just let me know. It’s that time of year again for flip flops and sandals, so here is my Heads Over Heels, beaded flip flops.

I found the pattern from a beading magazine and I thought it would look nice on a sandal or flip flop. I actually made this for myself but I thought of putting them on my etsy……

Well, it is kind of related to paper beads because I did a necklace with the same pattern using paper beads for the fringe! See it on my next post.

The look like pineapples don’t you think? I also love the way Jane made earrings out of the saucer shape beads, very designer like What a neat idea!

Jane made this saucer or button bead with a small opening for the jump ring to go in, how ingenious! I would love to try this.

Manou found a way with mixing all the beads beautifully in this bracelet. I just love blue and chocolate brown combined together.

Here it is! Paper beads all painted in beautiful colors from near and far away places. Ladies and gentlemen (drum roll), I would like to present to you painted paper beads cut from all types of paper, boxes, envelopes, postcards……and painted in vibrant colors! There are twelve participants for this swap, some of you made several using different mediums.

Manou’s beads are painted to look like “Matriochkas” or Russian Dolls. These pictures doesn’t really do justice they are more exquisite in person. The details on the tiny faces are just amazing!

I think Manou has mastered the bicone shaped beads. Love the lime green.

In this group, she has a couple of small saucer shaped beads that can be used as button closure.

Claire’s beads are vibrant red, she said she made them from paper with different prints on them that are still visible after painting them making each one different. You can see more of her paper beads at her blog, Papel Hilo.

Gisela, experimented on different kinds of medium. It is such a treat to see all the different designs she did on these beads.

The barrel shaped bead were painted with random colors, after painting them with a solid blue background, using small brush.

Cone shaped beads that looks like cocoons, were sponged with multiple colors.

I really love how these turned out, she also did this with multiple colors using small sponge.

The cobalt blue and green combination is also very pretty, Gisela painted the paper first before rolling them into beads.

These beads are so pretty with gold and brown combined. Gisela painted and then stamped the paper, you can see the leaf designs that she stamped on the paper.

Gisela came up with creative ideas on how to paint the beads, for these olive green(ish) barrel beads, she put the beads in a jar with small amounts of different color paints! How creative is that?

Belinda of cassiscraft came up with long skinny red beads that are perfect tube shapes. They would just be great mixed with crystals or glass beads. Belinda’s website is a hodgepodge of different crafts, so much inspiration….

Donna’s beads reminded her of a “Starry Night” in Southern Georgia. They do twinkle like stars, in what I would call midnight blue and deep purple.

Last but not least, are Kathy’s beads. I love the chunky beads that are made out of boxes or heavier paper material and painted in metallic colors.

Origami Friends For Lana

I spent Christmas day away from my home. You know what that means? Away from my beads, paper beads, paper, glitter and paint, I started to experience shortness of breath, I asked my husband to drive me to Barnes and Noble quickly! I ended up spending 4 hours browsing through books, leafing through magazines, sipping ice tea……I was in heaven. I cannot just walk out of there without buying something, after all isn’t that the idea? I got this book “Origami For Children” by Mario and Roshin Ono, I wanted to learn origami for my grand daughter Lana. She loves anything paper, reminds me of someone

Lana turned 15 months old and she would rather play with envelopes, sticky notes and labels, so her new origami toys would just perfect for her to play with. Below is a ninja knife.

I made this box from the book but there are tons of video tutorials on youtube, just search for origami box. They are great for storing small things and beads.

I also made Mr. Turtle from a kit I got years ago.

Mr. Penguin I think would also be one of her favorite, this also came from a kit.

I will get a lot of giggles from Pacman The Munch, this is from the book.

And because, she is a girl she needs a ring

I couldn’t wait to see the look on her face when she gets all these goodies. Her mommy will have some quiet time for at least 15 minutes
