A Tutorial on the Sea Anemone Ring

Posted on Mar 13, 2010 in How-To's / Tutorials | 26 comments

I did a post on this ring a few months back, but no video tutorial.  This has been such a popular ring, and just catches everyone’s attention when I wear it.  It such a nice cocktail ring or just a “feel good ring”.  The ring would take on a different look depending on which ring finding you are using.  The trick is to just fill up the loop with as much dangles as you can – which can be quite a challenge, but then you get such rewarding results. I have used the olive shaped paper beads and the small round beads in making these rings.

This ring is made with the small round paper beads.

You can also try and wire wrap the dangles into the ring loop finding instead of the rosary loop.

I hope you have fun this week end making these rings.

  1. Hello ! I was wondering if you have the ring findings fot the anemone rings yet ? I have looked here but cannot find. Thank you

    • Hello!
We have one similar, also one loop ring. Please check my etsy site if not, contact me here so we can list it for you. Thanks. Janice

  2. LOVE the rings! We make paper beads and have made necklaces, bracelets and earrings with them but haven’t tried a ring — this is definitely on our To Do list!

  3. Will you be getting any more one loop rings to make the anemone rings ? did not see any in the online shopping section of your site.

    • Hi,

We do just got the one loop rings will notify you when it is listed. Thank you.

  4. Hi, Now I understand. Thank you. I know these are dumb questions but beadery is a new to me.

  5. Hi, I don’t understand where th 1/4 comes in ?

    • Hi! This will be the size of your finished bead from side to side or the widest point of your bead, in the middle. The length of the bead is from the top to bottom where the holes are, the width is the middle of your bead. Just remember that you paper strip is shaped like an isosceles triangle.

  6. Thank you ! Do you mean 3/8 at the widest end 14 long & 1/4 at the tip ? Can’t wait to make this ring !!!! I have been making beads all evening and for several days but I made them 1/2″ wide so now I have to make some in this size. What else is there to do in this storm in Ohio !

    • Hi,

3/8 inch at the base and the tip of the triangle should be the pointed part not 1/4 inch, the length can be 14 inches or longer. I’m sorry to hear about the storm…

  7. Hello Janice, Can you please tell me how wide and how long the triangle paper is for the sea anemone ring is ? Are the width (1/2″) and length (1/4″ long) correct for the olive beads ?

    • Hello! The paper beads I used for the sea anemone ring are what I call “olives”. The measurement at the base is 3/8 of an inch and the width is 1/4 of an inch. The length of the triangle strip should be approximately 14 inches. I hope this helps you. Janice

  8. Hi Janice,

I loved the way you explained how to make this ring, but how big is the paper bead.

    • Hi Rosa,

The olive shapes beads are almost 1/2 an inch long and 1/4 inch wide and the round beads are about 6mm in size. Janice

  9. I looked at the tape again. It looks as though the ring base has
a loop in the middle and surrounded with several others?
Please let me know if my description is correct.

    Leigh

    • Hi Leigh,

The ring you are referring to has three loops side by side on the band. I may have one left on my shop, it is gold filled not silver.

  10. I’m trying to locate the ring findings for the second ring that you
demonstrate above. Could you please indicate what type of finding this
    is. Thank you so much.
    Leigh

    • Hi Leigh,

I think you are referring to the ring finding that has 3 loops in it, instead of just one.

  11. I am not this advanced but they sure do look beautiful!

  12. This is a Beautiful ring! On the youtube video of making this ring it looks to me that on your other hand you have another type of paper bead ring? Either way it’s a nice ring.

  13. Love this fun tutorial. It’s fun and funky. Thanks for sharing. I will link in an upcoming post.

  14. alright that would be great. Can’t wait. 🙂
